I arrived in McMurdo today via a C-17. I was able to go up to where the pilots were sitting. They have such an incredible view up there, I stood looking out with my mouth hanging open for several minutes before one of the pilots said hello to me. I wasn't sure if they could hear me without a headset, but they responded to my questions. They said flying to "the ice" was one of the most interesting missions they have. There are several crews that switch around and each one will fly to the ice 3-4 times each summer.

Hopefully, tomorrow I will have time to update some photos as they tell the story much better than I can right now (sleepy!) It is 10:40 PM on Friday evening here (same as in NZ) and 2:30 AM on Friday morning at home in Colorado.
